ENG 28300 Literature and Film

Students read selected works of literature and view the films which have been based on them, in order to gain a greater understanding of the complementary and often tenuous relationship that exists between these two mediums. Discussion focuses on a critical analysis and comparison of both the print and film versions, centering on plot, narrative structures, point of view, characterization, faithfulness, literal and spiritual translations, theme, mood, setting, and the adaptation of graphic literature to the screen.
