ENG 23200 Children's Literature

The course examines the history and genres of children’s literature from the Early Modern to the Contemporary period. Readings in literary history and criticism are used alongside core texts exploring traditional and oral children’s literature (fairy tales and folk tales), modern fantasy, realistic fiction, historical fiction, and poetry. Student activities include delivering presentations to the class, engaging in original research, and writing multiple essays drawing upon scholarly sources and literary analysis of the texts.
