SPE 16000 Social Media and Communication

This course is an introduction to the history, development, technology and uses of social media. Social media has transformed communication. Students will explore these changes as well as the enormous popularity of social media and different communicative techniques used in different platforms. The role that social media plays in relationships, business, politics, and marketing, will be explored. Students will synthesize and apply their understanding of various social media platforms at the culmination of the semester. Various elements of this course will address national and international (Europe, Asia, Africa, Caribbean and other parts of the world) perspectives.
