MCS 24000 Sex, Power, Social Change - Honors

Sex, gender, and sexuality activism on issues including women’s equality, LGBTQ rights, and racial justice are intertwined with how we use language and communicate. This honors gender and communication course will explore how language reflects and constitutes sex, gender, and sexual identities. We will also examine the intersection of language and communication with activism and social change involving ideals of beauty, LGBTQ+ identity, international human rights, and U.S. women’s activism on violence, suffrage and other issues. A research paper or project is required.
