MCS 23000 Sex, Power, Social Change

Sex, gender, and sexuality activism on issues such as women’s equality, LGBTQ rights, and racial justice are intertwined with how we use language and communicate. In this gender and communication course we will explore how language reflects and generates sex, gender, and sexual identities. We will also examine the intersection of language and communication with activism and social change involving ideals of beauty, LGBTQ+ identity, international human rights, and U.S. women’s activism on violence, suffrage and other issues.
