MCS 20200 Gender, Sex and Power - Honors

What can women’s, gender, and sexuality studies teach us about power relations in society? What can feminist and queer theory teach us about how to conceptualize oppression and freedom? On the way to formulating answers to these questions we will examine how sex, gender, culture, race, LGBTQQIA identities, and socioeconomic class intersect with the realms of politics, work, and interpersonal relations. Be prepared to discuss, debate, and question fundamental ideas about our identities and social processes. A research paper/project is required.
