PER 16300 The Shakespeare Authorship Question

This course will present an overview of theatre history of the Renaissance and Elizabethan theatre. The main focus pertains to the ever-growing question of authorship of the works of Shakespeare. Alternate candidates and theories will be explored, however the current leading candidate, the 17th Earl of Oxford, will be at the center of the debate. This course will delve into the reasons behind the authorship question and the validity of the Oxfordian claim.
