PER 16300 The Shakespeare Authorship Question

This course will present an overview of theatre history of the Renaissance and Elizabethan theatre. The main focus pertains to the ever-growing question of authorship of the works of Shakespeare. Alternate candidates and theories will be explored, however the current leading candidate, the 17^th Earl of Oxford, will be at the center of the debate. This course will delve into the reasons behind the authorship question and the validity of the Oxfordian claim.
