MUS 14300 Contemporary Music Ensemble I
Music performance class requiring student-musicians to play through a variety of music styles from the contemporary music repertoire from Jazz and Blues to Soul, Rock, Hip-Hop, and beyond. At the conclusion of each semester, the ensemble will accompany student songwriters on the main stage for a live performance of original student songs. The ensemble is designed to prepare student musicians for a career in contemporary music, with emphasis on group playing and improvisation. For the Ensemble I musician, responsibilities include basic chart reading, development of groove, awareness of form, and intercommunication between ensemble members.
