SPA 20000 Intermediate Spanish for Heritage Speakers I

This course is the first half of a two-semester sequence designated specifically for native or heritage speakers of Spanish with oral proficiency but little formal training in the language. Generally, these are learners who were raised in homes where Spanish was spoken. The course is designed to build on the language base students already possess. The primary purpose of the course is to develop reading and writing skills, although all of the four language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) are emphasized. In addition, students will be introduced to the main linguistic varieties and cultural patterns of the Spanish speaking world with special attention to the Spanish varieties and cultures in the U.S.
