HIS 11600 Civil Rights Movements in America 1945-1975

This course offers an analysis of the Civil Rights and Black Power movements. Further, it examines how African-American freedom struggles gave a framework to struggles for the rights of Native Americans, LGBT persons, and prisoners. Readings examine the key leaders, organizations, and philosophies associated with these movements. The impact of racism, discrimination, prejudice, misogyny, and homophobia will also be explored.
