GST 20200 Gender, Sex, Power - Honors

What does it mean to be a woman or a man, or nonbinary, or trans today? Why is there so much controversy regarding gender, race, class, sexual orientation and other intersectional identity issues? What are feminist and other social justice movements calling for and why? How do we make sense of it all? We will address these questions as we explore how society is organized around gender, how it influences everything from interpersonal relations to the world of work, and how it has spurred activism. Welcome to everyone regardless of whether you are curious, critical, skeptical, or enthusiastic about this material. An Honors research paper/project is required.
